About Us

Who We Are

Women In Defense (WID), a National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA) affiliate, is a community of men and women across the country who are passionate about encouraging women to engage in and influence areas of defense and national security. Incorporated in 1985, WID has grown into an established non-profit organization represented by 20 chapters through the United States, comprised of members working in industries such as defense, national security, government and academia.

Our Chapter

The Women In Defense-New England Shoreline Chapter (WID-NESC) was founded in September 2009 by a handful of women from General Dynamics Electric Boat, and has since grown to over 100 members. Our board members head the chapter's efforts to provide women with an environment to grow, advance and be recognized for their success in the defense workforce. We are a community of professionals committed to proactively preparing our members for professional growth and career advancement.

Working in support of our nation's security brings unique challenges and opportunities. No matter what your role or career aspiration may be, it is likely a WID-NESC member has been through a similar experience and is eager to help.

We are leaders. We are advocates. We are Women In Defense.
