LCDR Erica Harris

Lieutenant Commander Erica Harris is a native of Appomattox, Virginia. She received her naval commission in 2011 as a Research Psychologist in the Medical Service Corps. She is currently stationed at the Naval Nuclear Power Training Command in Goose Creek, SC, where she serves as the Deputy Director of the Sailor Development Group to inculcate a variety of developmental programs to create the strongest naval nuclear operators in the world. 

Being in the Navy for a little over 10 years, she has served in a variety of assignments as well as completed a successful operational tour to Afghanistan in 2013. Prior to moving to Charleston, she spent three years in Memphis, TN, at the Navy Personnel Command (NPC) which is considered the talent management heartbeat of the Navy to attract, train, utilize, assess, and retain the most talented Sailors in the Navy. There she created the MyNavy Coaching initiative with the goal to create more deliberate developmental conversations for sailors to meet their personal and professional goals in addition to the first-ever Military Individual Development Plan. Prior to NPC, she spent two years in Singapore at the U.S. Embassy and Naval Medical Research Unit-TWO serving as the Research and Development Liaison Officer to assist in monitoring and characterizing emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases of military and public health importance. Lieutenant Commander Harris moved to Charleston in July 2022. She graduated from Boston University with her PhD in Behavioral Neurosciences in 2011 and her Master of Public Health degree in 2005. She completed her undergraduate degree in Psychology at the University of Virginia in 2001. She is also a certified personal and executive coach and is a credentialed coach by the International Coaching Federation.
